Nikolai Petrovich Wagner
1829–1907
Russian zoologist, entomologist, and writer. Graduated from the University of Kazan, 1854. Professor of zoology, Kazan, 1860; St Petersburg University, 1871. Instrumental in the founding of the Solovki Biological Station (later relocated and renamed Murmansk Marine Biology Institute). Discovered the phenomenon of paedogenesis, or larval reproduction.
