Alexander Berry
1781–1873
Scottish-born merchant. Studied medicine at Edinburgh University. Worked as a surgeon’s mate. Gave up medicine for commerce in 1806. Travelled to Australia for trade, 1807–12. Returned to Australia in 1819. Nominee in the Legislative Council, 1828–61.
