Charles-Victor (Victor) Jaclard


French communist. Professor of mathematics, Metz. Became involved in revolutionary activities in Paris after 1864. Fled to Switzerland for a few months in 1870. Involved in the new French Republic from 1870. Arrested in 1871 at the fall of the Paris commune, but escaped to Switzerland, then went to Russia in 1874. Pardoned, 1879; returned to France in 1880.
