Guillaume-Louis (Louis) Figuier
1819–94
French scientist and writer. Doctor of medicine, Montpellier, 1841. Professor, École de pharmacie, Paris, 1853. From 1856, devoted himself to the popularisation of science. Editor and publisher of L’Année scientifique, 1857–94. Prolific author of scientific works, and a pioneer of scientific theatre.
