George M’Ilvaine Ramsey
1820–1902
American physician, writer, and farmer. After working as a carpenter and schoolteacher, graduated from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, in 1852. Practised in New York City, 1853–61, 1865–76. Surgeon, Ninety-fifth Regiment of New York, Army of the Potomac, 1861–5. Returned to his family farm in Washington county, Pennsylvania, in 1876. Published several books linking astronomy, meteorology, geology, and theology.
