Adolf Speyer

1812–92

German naturalist, entomologist. Studied medicine at Göttingen and Berlin, 1830–5; MD, 1835. As a naturalist, he was influenced by Alexander von Humbolt’s writing on plant geography, and tried to apply the principles to his zoogeographical studies. Published on the distribution of German Lepidoptera. (Deutsche Entomologische Zeitschrift "Iris" 6 (1893): 37–68).
