Thomas Say

American naturalist and explorer. Co-founder of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia. Zoologist to the government expedition to the Rocky Mountains, 1819–20, and to a second western expedition, 1823. Curator, American Philosophical Society, 1821; professor of natural history, including geology, University of Pennsylvania, 1822.
