Bernadino Rivadavia
1780–1845
Argentinian statesman. First national president of Argentina, 1826–7. Resigned because of opposition to his policy of a unified Argentina. Lived in Spain from 1829. Attempted to return to Argentina in 1834 but was not allowed to disembark.
