Emily Beke (1856–1911)
1837–1911
Daughter of William Alston of Leicester and Elizabeth Wagstaff Hyde Clarke Alston. Married as his second wife Charles Tilstone Beke at Port Louis in Mauritius in 1856. Travelled with her husband in Syria and Palestine, and assisted in his work of identifying Biblical locations. Edited and published her husband’s final work after his death. Spent the last years of her life in France.
