Charles Knight
1808?–91
Surgeon, botanist and colonial official. Emigrated to Australia in 1841. Worked as a copying clerk in the department of the governor of South Australia, George Grey, 1843–5. Auditor of the public accounts of the general government of New Zealand, 1858–78. Specialist in lichens.
