Welsh invertebrate palaeontologist and editor. Library and museum assistant, 1862. Assistant secretary, librarian, and curator, Geological Society of London, 1863–8. From 1869, secretary, Royal Agricultural Society, and editor of the Journal of the Royal Agricultural Society of England. Wrote on bivalves from Indonesia, Australia, and Greece.
