Robert Hutton
1784–1870
Merchant, politician, and geologist. Of Putney Park, Surrey. Formerly a merchant in Dublin. M.P. for Dublin, 1837–41. A secretary of the Geological Society, 1836–8; council member, 1836–41 and 1842–9. Served on the council of University College London and of the British Association for the Advancement of Science.
