Daughter of Peter Holland, doctor, of Knutsford, Cheshire, and his wife Mary Willets. Sister of Henry Holland. Second cousin of CD and Emma Darwin, and cousin of Elizabeth Gaskell. Married Franklin Howorth, Presbyterian minister, in 1839.
