Mathematician and law reporter. Entered Lincoln’s Inn in 1844; called to the bar, 1850. Reporter in the Chancery courts, 1859–94. Junior counsel to the treasury, 1871–5. Appointed to Queen’s Counsel, 1875. Standing counsel to Cambridge University, 1875–9.
