Thaddeus William Harris
1795–1856
American entomologist and librarian. Librarian of Harvard College, 1831–56. Gave instruction in natural history, 1837–42. Contributed articles on entomology and horticulture to scientific journals. Author of section 8, "Insects", of the Catalogue of the animals and plants of Massachusetts (1833), also published as part 4 of Edward Hitchcock’s Report on the geology, mineralogy, botany, and zoology of Massachusetts (1833), and of the Report on the insects of Massachusetts injurious to vegetation (1841).
