Thomas Erskine, of Linlathen
1788–1870
Scottish theologian and advocate. Inherited the estate of Linlathen in Forfarshire, Scotland, in 1816. Published works of eclectic theology. Entertained visitors interested in his religious views, among them Frances Julia Wedgwood. His numerous correspondents included Thomas Carlyle, Charles Kingsley and J. F. D. Maurice.
