Dear Sir
Although I read with great interest & formed a high opinion of the value of one of your papers, I shd. consider it so unauthorised a piece of presumption on my part to express any opinion whatever on the merits of a candidate in chemistry, that I am sorry to say I cannot accede to your desire.
