This statement gives sales figures for the US editions of Origin and Descent. D. Appleton & Co. had issued a new edition of Origin in 1870 based on the fifth English edition; another edition was printed in 1873, based on the sixth London edition (Freeman 1977).
The value is given in sterling and gold.
