Darwin Correspondence Project

From V. O. Kovalevsky   29 January 1871

Berlin

29 Jan. 1871.—

Dear Sir

I am extremely glad that the long pause in Your letters was caused only by overwork, but as Your letters must have been miscarried by the post I thought that you are angry ⟨w⟩ith me; from my departure at the 14 Oct. from London I did not receive not a line though the proof sheets arrived regularly.1 I have no pretensions however to induce You to carry a correspondence as Your time is so limited; and You will be so kind not to answer this letter as I write it only to explain my anxiety. To morrow we start for Paris and You shall hear perhaps from me perhaps in this day week, if the past relations with England will be reestablished.2 All the proof sheets of the whole first & second volume to the page 160 I received in due time.

Pray remember me to Mrs Darwin & the ladies3 | and believe me | Very truly Yours | W. Kowalevsky
