Dear Sir

I am much obliged to you for sending me your “Revision &c” & paper on Lepidoptera, & for various other papers on former occasions, many of which I have read with very great interest—2

I thank you also for your present of Harris’ Ent.— Correspondence, in which I daresay I shall find points of interest;3 for I possess two Editions of his “Insects of New England”, which I have read with profit—4

CD refers to Scudder’s Revision of the large, stylated, fossorial crickets (Scudder 1869a); CD’s copy is in the Darwin Pamphlet Collection–CUL. Scudder had recently published several papers on Lepidoptera (Scudder 1868, Scudder 1869b, and Scudder 1869c). A copy of Scudder 1869c is in Darwin Pamphlet Collection–CUL. Beginning in 1861, Scudder had sent numerous publications and reports to CD (see Correspondence vol. 10, letter to Andrew Murray, 10 April [1862] and n. 2, and Scudder 1861). They are in the Darwin Pamphlet Collection–CUL.
