My dear Mr. Agassiz.
It is very good of you to propose calling here, and I shall be delighted to see you— Will you not come to luncheon at 1. o’clock? as that is generally my best time for strength; but do not trouble yourself to answer. & come at any time.2

The date is conjectured from the relationship between this letter and the letter from Alexander Agassiz, 22 October 1870, and from the fact that if the letter pertained to Agassiz’s earlier visit in December 1869, CD would probably have included train information for travel to Down. The copyist’s date is in error as Agassiz was in Paris in February (G. R. Agassiz ed. 1913, pp, 97, 99, 114).
