Darwin Correspondence Project

To Richard Owen   24 [February 1840]

12 Upper Gower St

Monday Morn.

My dear Owen.

Have you any M.S. ready for the Printers.— I write to put you in mind that to day is the 24th.— I trust that you will have all ready by the end of 1st week in March, otherwise I I am sure we shall be in a hurry.—

Will you have the kindness to see that Mr Scharf1 has finished the plates & beg him to inform me directly whether you have seen proofs of all, so that I may see about their printing off.—

Believe me | Most truly Yours | Chas. Darwin

George Scharf was responsible for the plates in Fossil Mammalia. The fourth number appeared in April 1840.

Asks RO whether he has any MS [of Fossil Mammalia, no. 4] ready and to see that the plates are finished.
