Higgins’s note has not been found. The payment was half-yearly rent on CD’s farm at Beesby, Lincolnshire. CD was away from Down visiting the hydropathic establishment at Ilkley Wells from 2 October to 9 December 1859 (see Correspondence vol. 7, Appendix II). See also plate in Correspondence vol. 30.
