Mrs Darwin encloses a photograph of Mr Darwin—3

The year is established by the relationship between this letter and the letter from Hermann Kindt, 11 October 1864.
Kindt had offered to send an article from the German serial publication Unsere Zeit (Schönemann 1863) in which CD’s scientific achievements were described. See letter from Hermann Kindt, 11 October 1864.
In his letter of 11 October 1864, Kindt had asked for the name of a photographer from whom he might buy a portrait of CD. Emma probably enclosed the photograph taken earlier in the year by William Erasmus Darwin (see letter from W. E. Darwin, [19 May 1864] and n. 8, and frontispiece to this volume).

Schönemann, J. 1863. Charles Darwin, englischer Naturforscher. Unsere Zeit. Jahrbuch zum Conversations-Lexikon 7: 699–718.

Writes, for CD, to thank him for his letter and offer to send Unsere Zeit, but will not trouble him to send it.

Sends photograph of CD.
