Bockelmann was a student of natural sciences (stud. rer. nat. is the abbreviation of the Latin ‘studiosus rerum naturalium’, typically used in German-speaking countries). Bombe was studying philosophy and geography. Engelmann, Hermann Scheer, and Bernhard Schmidt were students of philosophy. Petry was a student of natural sciences and geography.
