To J. de C. Sowerby   [28 August or 4 September 1850]1

Down Farnborough Kent

My dear Sir

I have just received a Circular from Palæont. Soc. to say there will be a Council on next Monday afternoon: I shall attend it; it wd be an immense saving of time & trouble, if you could make an effort & let me have all the rough arranged by 2 oclock on Monday at the Geological Soc Somerset H:—— Let me earnestly beg you to put your shoulder to the wheel & get the job done

Yours vy truly | C. Darwin

Dated on the basis that this letter precedes letter to J. S. Bowerbank, 10 September [1850], in which it is made apparent that CD did attend the council meeting of the Palaeontographical Society mentioned in the letter.

CD insistently requests JdeCS to have all rough illustrations [for Fossil Cirripedia (Lepadidae)] done in time for next Council meeting of the Palaeontographical Society.
