5. Read a letter from Mr Chas Darwin offering to prepare for the Society a Monograph of the British Fossil Cirripedia2

The letter has not been found. The text given has been taken from the minutes of a meeting of the Palaeontographical Society held on 22 February 1850. The minutes record that Henry Thomas De la Beche, Philip de Malpas Grey-Egerton, Charles Lyell, Daniel Sharpe, James Carrick-Moore, John Morris, John Wickham Flower, and James Scott Bowerbank were present.
The minutes continue with a resolution ‘that the offer of Mr Darwin be accepted’, followed by a resolution ‘that Sir Chas Lyell and Prof. Forbes be appointed a committee of Superintendance for Mr Darwins Monograph’.
