Darwin Correspondence Project

To C. R. Weld   [1849]

Down

Tuesday

Dear Sir

The Carrier will bring on Thursday morning the 4 Books which I have, & will you please let him have “Mem. du Mus. de Hist. Nat. Tom 8, 9, 10, 11.—”

N.B. This is not the Annales du Museum but next series.—1

Yours faithfully | C. Darwin

Footnotes

The Annales du Muséum d’histoire naturelle were succeeded by the Mémoires du Muséum d’histoire naturelle in 1815; they were the official publications of the Paris Natural History Museum. CD was evidently reading through the series. On 25 December 1848, he recorded in his reading notebook that he had read the ‘Memoires du Museum up to Tom IX inclusive’ (see Correspondence vol. 4, Appendix IV). Weld was librarian of the Royal Society of London.

Summary

Will return books, and asks for more.
