Gentlemen,

I shd be much obliged if you would be so good as to apply to the R. Academy of Sciences of Turin, for the sum of 12,000 lire which have been awarded to me.1 Also I hereby authorise you to receive this sum for me, which please to & to transmit to the Union Bank of London on my account—2

£418 18s. 10d. was deposited into CD’s banking account on 17 January 1880 (CD’s Account books–banking account (Down House MS)).

Summary
