The year is established by the relationship between this postcard and the letter to Albert Günther, 7 May 1877.
CD had received from Yarkand, China, a box of pigeon skins collected by John Scully (see Correspondence vol. 24, letter to George King, 19 September 1876, and letter to J. D. Hooker, 17 October [1876]). There is a collection of twenty-nine skins donated by Scully in the Museum of Natural History at Tring (BMNH 1883.6.6.1–29).
