Horace Darwin
Civil engineer. CD's son. B.A., Trinity College, Cambridge, 1874. Apprenticed to an engineering firm in Kent; returned to Cambridge in 1875 to design and make scientific instruments. Founder and director of the Cambridge Scientific Instrument Company. Mayor of Cambridge, 1896–7. Knighted, 1918. FRS 1903.
