American physician and botanist. Resident in London from 1820. M.D. 1824. Lecturer on botany and materia medica, Webb Street School of Medicine, London, 1825. Conducted a successful medical practice in London, 1825–32. Secretary, Linnean Society of London, 1832–9; treasurer, 1856–61.
