Thomas Rivers
Nurseryman. Succeeded to the family business in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, in 1827. Specialised in the cultivation of roses and fruit. Author of works on rose and fruit culture; contributed extensively to gardening journals. A founder of the British Pomological Society, 1854.
