To Richard Kippist 16 January [1870 or 1871]1
Down. | Beckenham | Kent. S.E.
My dear Sir
I am sorry to have caused you trouble.— The text & the Plates was sent by mistake, & I shd be glad of its return, as one of my sons wishes to keep the Plates, which,, however, wd be of very little use to the Soc, as they are chiefly a curiosity in the art of engraving.— Kindly give volume specified to Royal Soc.—2
My dear sir | Yours sincerely | Ch. Darwin
Requests the return of some plates sent in error.
