Darwin Correspondence Project

From Hugo Thiel   18 February 1869

Bonn

Febr. 18th. 1869.

Charles Darwin Esqu.   Dr. M. M.A. etc etc.

Dear Sir!

You will kindly excuse my taking the liberty of sending you a little pamphlet of mine.1 Only the introduction of this little work can be of any interest to you and I should be very glad if you appreciate this attempt to succeed in better understanding the social questions by adopting your ideas of all organical development.

At this opportunity I am obliged to express how much especially agriculture is indebted to you for the sciential foundation you laid to our practical endeavours of breeding animals and plants. You can be sure that in spite of a few opponents the number of your disciples in Germany is daily increasing, at the Royal agricultural Academy at Poppelsdorf f.i. all our experiments are founded upon your doctrines.

Believe me your most obedient | Dr. H. Thiel | Member of the Bonn University and the Royal agricultural Academy at Poppelsdorf.
