Darwin Correspondence Project

From John Lubbock   30 January 1868

15, Lombard Street. E.C.

30 Jan 68

My dear Mr. Darwin

Many thanks for the Book which I need not say I shall read with great interest— Even the small print.1

Yours very truly | John Lubbock

The reference is to Variation. Lubbock’s name appears on CD’s presentation list for the book (see Correspondence vol. 16, Appendix IV). To reduce the length of the book, CD suggested to his publisher, John Murray, that more detailed information be printed in a smaller type (see Correspondence vol. 15, letter to John Murray, 8 January [1867]).

Many thanks for the book [Variation].
