The President read an abstract of Frederick Chatfield’s dispatch, dated 10 October 1839 (Proceedings of the Geological Society 3 (1838–42): 179). Chatfield was Consul-General in Guatemala.


Recommends that Consul Chatfield’s communication on an earthquake in San Salvador [read 5 Feb 1840; Proc. Geol. Soc. Lond. 3 (1840): 179] not be published in Transactions.
