Hoek wrote the report on specimens of Pycnogonida (sea spiders) that had been collected by HMS Challenger between 1873 and 1876 (Hoek 1881). CD’s copy is in the Darwin Library–Down. CD had been instrumental in Hoek’s being assigned to work on the specimens (see Correspondence vol. 25, letter from C. W. Thomson, 30 June 1877).
