Hermann Brehmer
1826–89
German physician. Studied mathematics, astronomy, and natural sciences, Breslau, 1847–50. Studied in Berlin, 1850–3; MD 1853. Founded the first tuberculosis sanatorium in Germany in Görbersdorf in 1854. His treatment emphasised the benefits of climate, exercise, and diet.
