Otto Zacharias

1846–1916

German journalist and zoologist. Edited several magazines and wrote articles and book reviews on evolution. Populariser of CD’s theories, and supporter of Ernst Haeckel. Had a second career as a zoologist, specialising in plankton. Founded a private research station in Plön, northern Germany, which later became the Max Planck Institute for Limnology.
