Reuben Aleshire Vance
1845–94
American physician. Served in the Fourth Virginia Infantry in the American Civil War. MD, New York, 1867; in private practice in New York City, where he held various hospital posts. Moved to Cincinnati in 1879; lectured on pathological anatomy at Cincinnati College of Medicine and Surgery. Professor of clinical and operative surgery, Wooster University, 1881.
