German agriculturalist and civil servant. Studied agriculture, Royal Agricultural Academy, Poppelsdorf (Bonn); lecturer, 1865. Professor of agriculture, Darmstadt polytechnic, 1869; Munich polytechnical high school, 1872. General secretary, Prussian council on agriculture, 1873. Trustee of the agricultural high school, Berlin, 1881. Official in the Prussian ministry of agriculture and forests, 1885.
