William Kirby
1759–1850
Clergyman and entomologist. One of the authors of the Bridgewater Treatises (1833–6) and, in collaboration with William Spence, co-author of Introduction to entomology (1815–26). Vicar of Barham, Suffolk, 1796–1850. His name appears in the first list of fellows of the Linnean Society, 1798. Honorary president of the Entomological Society, 1837. FRS 1818.
