Carl Ludwig August Friedrich Maximilian Alfred (Carl) Du Prel, baron
1839–99
German philosopher. PhD (University of Tübingen), 1868. From 1872, he pursued a career as a freelance writer, publishing articles on philosophy, aesthetics, literature, astronomy, and psychical research. Studied the implications of dreams for philosophy and psychology, the application of Darwin’s theories to astronomy, and psychical phenomena and the transcendental self.
