Dear Sir

We had the honor to send you this morning by book-post the first copy, which ready, of the french translation of your “Naturalist’s journey on board of the Beagle,” which will be published in a few days here.1 We hope that the translation of Mr Barbier’s as well as the typographical part of the book will merit your approbation. The french press will soon give some reports on our translation, which we dare say, has really been impatiently waited for since of a few months.

According to our proposal of May 14. 1873. a percentage in the sale of the book ⁠⟨⁠is⁠⟩⁠ due to you, as soon as it will have reach⁠⟨⁠ed⁠⟩⁠ 750 copies. This percentage has been fixed at £20.—2 —and we hope to be soon able to hand you the said sum.
