To Edward Frankland 8 February 1882
Down, | Beckenham, Kent. | (Railway Station | Orpington. S.E.R.)
Feb. 8th 1882.—
Dear Professor Frankland.
Will you be so kind as to look at the enclosed, & if think that Mr. Meldola deserves the honour of being elected F.R.S, he would, I do not doubt, be much gratified by your signature. If for any reason you object to sign, I will mention the fact to no one, that I have sent the Certificate to you.— In order to save time & writing many notes, will you have the kindness to forward the Certificate (together with this note which will thereby do double duty) to ⟨Mr⟩ Norman Lockyer for his approval or rejection, as I believe he ⟨is⟩ often at Kensington.—1
⟨I⟩ enclose an addressed envelope for ⟨the⟩ Certificate & remain | Dear P⟨ro⟩fessor Frankland | Yours very faithfuly | Charles Darwin
