The degree of Honorary Doctor of Medicine and Surgery was awarded to CD by the University of Breslau in August 1861 (see letter from the University of Breslau, 4 August 1861). He received the diploma, transmitted by the secretary of the Prussian legation, in 1862 (see Correspondence vol. 10, letters from H. Albertof, 10 February 1862 and 13 February 1862). The diploma is in DAR 229.
