My dear Sir
I have the pleasure of informing you that Capt. FitzRoy has read your letter to me attentively & seemed desirous of assisting your son.1
He has made a rule, to make no promises for places in New Zealand, till he arrives there2 —a resolution he kept, when applied to by one of the highest personages in the realm, but he has put your letter by (together with a very kind one on the same subject from Mr Murchison) & I hope & think it may very likely lead to something.—
I hope your health is somewhat improved. with my best wishes | Believe me, very faithfully yours | C. Darwin
