Phillips 1869 had just been published (Publishers’ Circular, 1 February 1869, pp. 67, 73). CD’s copy is in the Darwin Library–Down. CD refers to the London address (6 Queen Anne Street) of his brother, Erasmus Alvey Darwin. Phillips’s letter to CD has not been found.
