June 12. 1862

My dear Sir,

I have a spike of the rare Irish Orchid Spiranthes gemmipara which has been preserved in spirits for about 3 years & seems in good condition— I dont know whether it would be a matter of any interest to you to examine it, but if you would care to see it I shall be very happy to send it to you— It is possible I may be able later in the season to get a fresh spike of Orchis hircina—1 If so perhaps might like to see it— Your interesting book has induced me to write to you on the subject

Your’s faithfully | Fredk Currey

C. Darwin Esqr.
